IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Anthony
Kahaly, Sr.
May 2, 1930 – March 9, 2024
Robert (Bob) Anthony Kahaly, Sr., 93, passed away peacefully in his home on March 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on May 2, 1930 to the parents of Elizabeth Machoul Kahaly and Charles Saleem Kahaly. He graduated from Procter High School and shortly thereafter entered the Navy during the Korean Conflict. Afterwards, he was able to purchase a Filling Station, Kahaly and Kress. To the nudging of his oldest brother, Ed, he agreed to meet his wife's niece. So Judy left her home in Portsmouth, Ohio to fly to Columbia, SC to meet him. And the rest, so they say, is history. Once they were married they moved to Columbia to be near his brothers and their families. They raised all of the children together and to this day they remain very close. After numerous jobs, Bob was hired by Pitney Bowes. He used to say that that hire was like a saving grace. Pitney Bowes transferred him to Jacksonville, Florida in 1969. He remained in Jacksonville for the rest of his life. Bob was a natural at Sales, even becoming a National Accounts Manager. After 25 years, he retired from Pitney Bowes and began to work at Pete Loftin's Outboard Marine. He was an avid fisherman and loved boating, a trait he passed down to his son and daughters, but especially his son. He also was into gardening and enjoyed watching the FSU Seminoles play, especially since his daughter, Karen attended there. After the passing of his wife in 2010, he moved to Rivertown in St Johns County to be near his 2 daughters and their families. Bob enjoyed his time in his new home and said that "Judy would have loved this home". He enjoyed many of Rivertowns Amenities', such as swimming laps, having his children and their children over for pool parties, golf cart rides and he participated in their golf cart contests. Once he was even in their Watermelon Eating Contest! Bob truly enjoyed life! Everyone who knew him loved him. Bob grew up in the Catholic Church but most importantly he trusted in His Lord and Savior. Bob will be sorely missed.
Bob was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Julia Ferrell Kahaly in 2010 and his daughter, Karen Ramsey (Joe) in 2018, along with his siblings, Ed Kahaly Sr, Richard Kahaly, and Viola Kahaly Peters. He is survived by his children Dianne (Joe) Muscorella, Bob Kahaly, Jr, Anne Marie (Joey) Toole, his grandchildren Gary Clay, 3rd, Eric Clay, Ryan Clay, Zachary (Stephanie) Kahaly, Benjamin Kahaly, Caroline Toole, Joseph Muscorella III, Jenny Toole (Brent) Cyrus, and his great grands, Elijah, Joey and June. He is also survived by many of his beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
