Robert Glenn Pickett, age 86, who was born, February 26, 1930 in Daisy, Tennessee passed away August 15, 2016 peacefully at his home in Jacksonville, Florida.

Robert was also known as Bob and fondly called "Pickett" by his wife, Mary. He served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean War. He began working in the construction business laying block with his father. Then he went on to be a career auto mechanic for Key and Bill Terry Buick dealerships. He was gifted with ability to analyze engine problems easily and others would often come to him for mechanical help.

During his retirement, he often walked along his street and made many neighborhood friends. He was known on their street as "The Mayor". He was a regular at our local Walmart for breakfast with his buddies and stayed busy making friends everywhere he went.

He spent lots of time in his garage working on various inventions, most notably a toroidal engine. Throughout his life, he was always thinking of creative ways to improve everyday items.

He was a perfect example of an honest, respectful and hard-working man!

Robert was preceded in death by his son, Glenn Ray Pickett and his granddaughter, Mary Frances Pickett.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary, his daughter, Sharon Smith, one grandson and 3 granddaughters, 4 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter.

A Celebration of Life will begin 11 AM, Friday, August 19, 2016 graveside at Arlington Park Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211 with Pastor Terry Collins officiating.
