Obituary of Robert Press

Robert W. "Bob" Press, 95, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Northeast Florida Community Hospice, St. Vincent Hospital. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he lived in Jacksonville, Florida since 1969. He had been a member of Parkwood Baptist Church since that time.

Press was a veteran of World War II who spent three and a half unrelieved years in the Asian-Pacific Theater. On his return to the US, he married Jeanette Caldwell of Townley, Alabama, who predeceased him in 2003. After a 30-year career in medical gas sales, he retired in 1983. Press was a passionate golfer and was known to many in Jacksonville for his prowess and camaraderie on the links. He enjoyed the game until age 94.

Press is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Press is survived by daughter, Linda P. Ingram and her husband E. Rogers Ingram; son, Bruce R. Press; and granddaughters, Elizabeth Ingram, Allison Press and Julianna Press; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family will receive friends on Friday, September 13, 2013, from 10:00 until11:00am at the Arlington Park Funeral Home Chapel, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL. The funeral will be held immediately following, at 11:00am with Dr. Larry Weaver officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Press's name to Northeast Florida Community Hospice or the American Heart Association.
