Obituary of Robert Sandberg
Robert Alan "Bob" Sandberg passed away June 3, 2008 after a brief but intense struggle with cancer. He was born November 22, 1954 in Birmingham, AL, the son of Ernest Sandberg and Johannah "Pat" Murphy Sandberg. Bob grew up in the Arlington area of Jacksonville, FL, a charter member of the Holly Oaks commandos. He graduated from Sandalwood High School then went on to obtain a degree in advertising from the University of Florida, a proud "gator" all his life. He enjoyed a long career in real estate property management which took him to a number of cities throughout the southeast, eventually settling in Tampa, FL. Bob spent his retirement years pursuing a passion for travel. Bob will be remembered most for his truly eclectic tastes in art and music, the stories he shared from all his adventures abroad, and a lifelong ability to find the humor in all people and situations. He is survived by his brother William E. Sandberg of Jacksonville, FL; and his aunt Elaine Sandberg McGrew of Metairie, LA. In honor of Bob's request the family will have no visitation and a private service celebrating his life at a later date. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville FL, 32257.
