Robert Eldridge Thrower, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the age of 93 after a lengthy illness. Robert will be missed dearly but will always have a special place in our hearts forever. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel located at Arlington Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6921 Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, Florida on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 11:00AM

Burial will be at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, located across the street from the Arlington Memorial Park Funeral Home on Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, Florida following the Memorial Service.

Robert was born on September 15, 1931 in the community of Shamrock, Florida which is now known as Cross City, Florida. His family moved to Jacksonville, Florida when he was a teenager. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School where he met Becky Smith and they were married in 1951. They were married for 73 years.

During his high school years Robert was on the Andrew Jackson Tigers basketball team and earned the nickname by his teammates as "Tricky" for his skills on the court.

Robert was employed by St. Regis-International Paper Company and earned another nickname of "Roadrunner" due to he was always busy handling all the many hats he wore as Superintendent and retired after over 35 years.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Becky Thrower, and a daughter Janet Leah Richard, a sister Betty Thrower Wyse, and a brother William Thrower.

He is survived by his three children, Robin Thrower McDurham (John),

Cindy Thrower Henehan (Todd), Robert E. Thrower, Jr (Amy).

Five grandchildren:

Mason Robert Henehan (Leia), Leah McDurham King (Darryl),

Hannah, Hailey and Noah Thrower

Two great grandchildren:

Jake King and Anna King
