Robert Eugene Williams, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the age of 88. Robert was born on June 29,1931 in Alma, Georgia, the son of LeRoy "Corky" Williams and Inez Davis Williams.
Bob began working for The Alma Times at the age of 12 and after graduating high school worked there full-time. In August of 1950 he joined the Navy and served four years as an Aviation Photographer. While at the Naval Air Station in Sanford, Florida, he met and married his lifelong love and companion, Norma. After marrying, they moved to Alma where he returned to The Alma Times as a Printer/Photographer. While living in Alma his two daughters, Virginia Lynn and Julia Ann were born. In October of 1959 they moved to Jacksonville, Florida where Bob worked for Martin Office Equipment and Sears. In April of 1961 he began his 34 year career with Jacksonville Electric Authority as their Graphics and Management Services Administrator. In addition, Bob and Norma had a thriving wedding photography business. Bob was an avid and lifelong learner and over the years attended several different colleges including Florida Junior College, Jacksonville University and the University of North Florida. Above all Bob Loved God and his family. He was a dedicated friend and mentor to many. He served as a deacon at Terry Parker Baptist Church for almost 10 years. Bob also enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping, playing on his computer and doing "honey dos" for Norma.
Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma (Koontz) Williams; his two daughters, Virginia (David) Prior and Julia (Lonnie) Sullivan, his grandchildren Christina (Adam) Cagle, Devon Sullivan and Jessica Sullivan and his great-grandchildren Ronan and Lola Cagle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Corky and Inez Williams and his younger sister Maryann Crumpler.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Heartland Hospice or Terry Parker Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday October 11th at the Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, Florida 32211. Bob's family will be greeting guests beginning at noon. Burial will be in the Arlington Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Arlington Park Funeral Home - (904) 724-6384,
