Obituary

Mr. Romie Earl Miles, 95, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025. He was born on March 3, 1930, in Alma, Georgia, to the late William Claude Miles and Sallie Mae Miles. Romie graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and went on to proudly serve in the United States Marine Corps. He later enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as an electrician at Jefferson Smurfit Paper Company & Le Tourneau Machinery.

Romie's family and friends will remember him for his kindness, his devotion to those he loved, and his commitment to his work. He was a man of integrity, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, uncle, and a friend to many.

Romie was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Michael Edwin Herforth.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Mrs. Ethel Miles; one daughter, Penny Velie; one granddaughter, Ashley Scott; one grandson, Ryan Scott; two stepsons, Leonard Masters (Blynda) and Doug Masters (Frankie); two stepdaughters, Brooke Steuber (Gene) and Tammy (Tim); four step-grandchildren, Trae (Erin), Drew (Jessica), Jayke (Meagan), and Cooper; six step-great-grandchildren, Aubrie, Leo, Cecilia, Fischer, Hunter, and Oaklee; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 9th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Arlington Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 10th, at 11:00 AM at Arlington Park Funeral Home, with interment immediately following the service at Arlington Park Cemetery.
