Rosa Julia Lopez, age 93, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on November 2, 2026. Born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, she made Jacksonville her home for more than 20 years, living there with her two eldest children.

She was the oldest of 11 children; she learned early what it meant to look after the people she loved, and she never stopped.

Rosa was strong-willed and never shy about sharing her opinion, but everyone who knew her understood that it came from love. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her family.

A devout Catholic, Rosa's faith guided her through every season of her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pedro Amado Contreras, who passed in August 2005. She is survived by her three children, Robert Contreras, Nooreen Carrasquillo, and Z. McT-Contreras; seven of her siblings; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her greatest joy.

Services will be held at Arlington Park Funeral Home on November 6, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10am, with mass at 2pm, and burial across the street at about 3pm, Arlington Park Cemetery.
