Obituary of Rosemary McDaniel

Rosemary Robinson McDaniel passed away on April 11, 2011 in Jacksonville , FL. She was born in Millville , NJ on August 30, 1931 to Robert M. and Mary S. Robinson. Rosemary graduated from Millville High School in 1948, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and voted most popular by her classmates. She attended Rollins College and graduated from Jacksonville University . Rosemary began her teaching career at Lake Forest Hills , taught at Arlington Elementary and Parkwood Heights Elementary, retiring after 33 years of teaching. Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, J. Ralph McDaniel, principal of Southside Junior High School . They were married on April 12, 1951. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Richard F. Robinson of Millville and Robert L. Robinson of Port Orange , FL. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila and Anthony Grasso, son, J. Ralph and Eugenia McDaniel; and grandson, John J. McDaniel. She is also survived by many friends and relatives across the country, as well as her beloved cats. She was a member of the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Ponte Vedra Inn and Club, and Duval County Retired Teachers Association. Rosemary was a supporter of numerous animal protection groups. She was a woman of great kindness to those less fortunate. Her cup was always half full, never half empty. She was a quiet, caring, and gentle person, who will be tremendously missed by all who had the honor to know and love her. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, April 14, 2011 in the chapel of Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road . Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrew's Church, 7801 Lone Star Road on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers and at her request, donations may be made to no-kill animal shelters, such as First Coast No More Homeless Pets. At this time, the family would like to thank everyone for their prayers. "Just a closer walk with Thee!"
