Roy Dennis Adkins died passing into the loving arms of Jesus on February 7, 2016 in Jacksonville, FL surrounded by his family. He was 89.

Mr. Adkins was born on January 22, 1927 in Sand Mountain, AL to his parents, the late Reynolds "Dock" and Margie (Boatner) Adkins. Following his service to this county in WWII as a part of the military police in the Army, he married Mildred Naomi Adkins (Patrick) and eventually settled in Jacksonville, FL where they raised their family.

Mr. Adkins loved God's world and enjoyed the freedom of driving though this beautiful country. He traveled frequently to the mountains of his youth in Alabama and Tennessee where he not only enjoyed God's presence in nature, but the love and support of family and friends. His spiritual home in Jacksonville was Oceanway Assembly of God where he was a long-time member.

Mr. Adkins is survived by his son, Fred Adkins, daughter, Pamela Williams (Adkins) and son-in-law, Eugene Williams all of Jacksonville, FL; his brother and sister-in-law, Clayton and Betty Adkins of Chattanooga, TN; his grandchildren Celita Locke (Williams), Cynthia Williams, Scott Adkins, Amy Adkins, and Justin Adkins all of Jacksonville, FL and April McCarthy (Williams) of Atlanta GA; two nieces, Susan Day (Ashley) of Hixson, TN and Wanda Barger (Ashley) of Sweetwater, TN, and two nephews, Jim Adkins of Soddy-Daisy, TN and Clay Adkins of Ooltewah, TN. He also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren and many great-nieces and nephews. Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Naomi Adkins (Patrick), a son, Gregory Steve Adkins, and his two sisters, Louise Adkins and Christine Ashley (Adkins).

Mr. Adkins will be buried in a private ceremony on February 11, 2016. A memorial will take place on February 10, 2016 at Arlington Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring located at 4141 Sunbeam Road, Building 400, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
