IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roy Allen
Benson
August 13, 1923 – August 5, 2025
Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay…
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey's quicker,
For some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the lord
Roy Allen Benson, a devoted Christian and pillar of his community, passed away on August 5th, 2025, at the remarkable age of 101. Born on August 13, 1923, in Fowlerville, Michigan, Roy lived a life marked by faith, family, and service.
As a first-generation American, Roy was raised on a farm by his parents, Jonas Benson, a Swedish immigrant from Runabe, and Ellen Carlson, from Chicago, Illinois, alongside his brother Ralph. This upbringing instilled in him a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility that would stay with him throughout his life.
Roy's commitment to serving his country led him to enlist in the Navy during World War II, where he proudly served from 1942 to 1946. After the war, he attended Michigan State University, furthering his education and broadening his horizons.
Roy spent the majority of his working life with the National Dairy Association, dedicating himself to his profession with the same integrity and passion that defined his personal life. In 1988, he retired to Florida, where he continued to live a life of purpose and joy.
Throughout his 74-year marriage to his beloved wife, Arloa, Roy was a constant source of love, support, and guidance. Together, they raised three children, Kathleen Miller, Karen Craft, and Daniel Benson, and were predeceased by a daughter Joyce Ann. They were blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Roy's legacy extends far beyond his impressive accomplishments, however. He was a man of unwavering character, respected and admired by all who knew him. His love for golf and his talent for fixing anything in his workshop were just a few of the many hobbies and interests that brought him joy.
May he rest in peace with the Lord and reunite with Arloa.
