Roy E Lockwood was born October 24, 1927 in Sandusky, OH, to Arthur C and Irma Dennis Lockwood, the youngest of four sons. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 21, 2022 at 94 years old.

Roy served his country patriotically, in the United States Navy and was active in WWII and the Korean War. He retired, after 22 years, as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He took his knowledge to Sikorsky Aircraft, worked as a Security Officer at Jacksonville University and then onto Duval County Public School System, as an Vocational Arts and a Math Teacher, for 16-1/2 years..  He graduated from Florida Community College at Jacksonville with an Associates Degree and a Bachelor's Degree from University of North Florida.  He later obtained a Master's Degree in Vocational Education, from Florida State University. He had a passion for lifelong learning and was a brilliant student.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Joy,  grandsons Loren D. Jones and D. Wallace Palmer.  He is survived by their five children: Randall (Leslie) Lockwood, Candace (Elliot) Palmer, Merrilea (Bob) Bilik, Melodie (John) Alderson of Jacksonville and Robin (Wendi) of Texas.  He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and a large extended family and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. He will be interred, with full military honors, alongside his wife, In Jacksonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his name to the charity of your choice. Kind regards,
