Obituary

Ruby Charlene Collier Mencer burst into the world on July 13th, 1957, in Savannah, Georgia. Ruby was born the 3rd oldest of four beautiful daughters born to Dr. Charles N. and Jennie Hamilton Collier. Ruby received her MA in Education at the University of North Florida while raising two young sons. Because of Ruby's compassion for people, she directed a program for children and adults with special needs. She later joined Duval County Public Schools, where she taught for 28 years. During this time, she joined an elite group of educators in People to People taking students on exciting educational trips to Europe and Australia. Ruby retired from Duvall County Schools last year (2020). As a young woman, Ruby felt the call of God and accepted salvation in 1972. Faith and family were vital to Ruby's life work, leading her to join Impact Church in 1996. Her love and compassion for youth and those with special needs led her to work with the youth ministry, as a Signer for the Deaf, a leader in the Buddy Break ministry (special needs) and a prayer warrior/intercessor with the Baby Boomer church group. Ruby, as her name implies, was a true gem that shined brightly. She lived a rich life full of love, family, laughter, and friends. As a loving daughter, mother, sister, cousin, aunt, grandmother, teacher, friend, and faithful church member Ruby left her vibrant impact on thousands of people. On July 27th, 2021, Ruby Charlene Collier Mencer heard, "Well done, My good and faithful servant," and went home to be with the Lord. Ruby joyfully awaits reunification with her two brave sons James Mencer Jr and Daniel Anderson; beautiful granddaughter Kaira Mencer; loving mother, Jennie Robinson; sisters: Mitzi Collier (in glory), her sister and best friend, Mary McClendon (Terry McClendon- husband- in glory), and Cheryl Terrell (Brandon Terrell-husband); step-brothers Robert Robinson Jr. and Charles Collier Jr.; Nephews and Nieces; Gregory Solomon (Carol Solomon- wife), April Collier-Wilson (Demond Wilson- husband), Tiffany Gist, Kristin Collier, and Stephen Collier, Terry McClendon, Jr.; and greatnephew and niece; Christian Wilson and Jasmine Gist.

"You are now very sad. But later I will see you, and you will be so happy that no one will be able to change the way you feel." John 16:22
