IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Russell Craig
Marshall
January 18, 1938 – February 15, 2025
Russell Craig Marshall passed away peacefully on February 15th, 2025 at the age 87. Craig was a lifelong Jacksonville resident, attending West Riverside and Ruth N. Upson Elementary Schools, John Gorrie Middle School, and graduating from Lee High School in 1956. Of note during his High School years, like his father Clare, Craig served in the American National Red Cross as a Lifeguard at Jacksonville Beach. Both he and his father received merit awards for saving a person from drowning. Coincidentally, almost 20 years to the day of each other.
After high school Craig enlisted with the United States Navy, which took him as far West as Africa, and as far North as the Artic Circle. This northerly voyage earned him the vaunted Blue Nose accommodation, awarded to those making the journey to the top of world.
For the lion's share of his career, Craig worked for the FBI for 36 years, retiring as a File Supervisor. After retirement he and his FBI buddies would get together for monthly guys-only breakfasts, and dinners with their respective spouses.
Craig was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Kay Dunwoody Marshall, in 2017. Together they were avid travelers both domestically and abroad. They were also die-hard, season-ticket holding Jaguars fans.
Craig is survived by his son Mike Marshall and his wife Robin; his sister and brother-in-law, Pinky & Joe Grosso; and their children Joe, Justin, and Julie. He will be missed by two very important people who helped him tremendously the last few years: Jennifer Vorburger, and Sokhar Dun.
Craig's last port of call was Westminster Woods on Julington Creek. Over the last seven years he enjoyed the campus: activities and outings, shooting pool, and taking in the abundant wildlife. Turtle Pond was always a favorite spot for watching Waterfowl and feeding the turtles.
A very special thanks to his WWJC friends, and the staff who took such good care of him, as well as VITAS Hospice services.
On Friday, February 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM, A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Westminster Woods on Julington Creek, 25 State Road 13, in the River Lounge.
