Samuel Mitchell went home to be with the Lord on July 5, 2020. He was 87. Samuel was born on November 19, 1932 in Atkinson, Georgia to the late Sire and Emma (Hunter) Mitchell. He was employed by Florida State College for many years until he retired. He loved music and found great joy in playing his guitar.

In addition to his parents and siblings, Samuel was preceded in death by his son, Frankie Mitchell, his granddaughter Rochelle J. Demory, and his great-grandson Dayshawn Williams.

Samuel leaves behind to cherish his memories, children; Carolyn Mitchell Kirksey, Darlene (Larry) Mitchell Porter, Samuel Mitchell, Anthony Mitchell, Garnett Mitchell, Harry (Marsha) Mitchell, Alena Mitchell; his first love and the mother of his children Alice L. Mitchell; grandchildren, Oreeta Mitchell, Quanisha Mitchell, Vernon (Cheryl) Clements, Vincent (Samone) Porter, Tekela S. Thomas, Devagas Williams, Jeneva Middleton, Shakera Mitchell, Anthony T. Mitchell; step-grandchildren, Mario Freeman, Charmine Mack; 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews and nieces, cousins, family members and friends.
