Obituary

Scott Allen Lathrop was born March 28, 1962, in Waterloo, Iowa to Jerry and Angie Lathrop. He accepted Jesus as his Savior at the age of ten, and attended Saint Mark's United Methodist Church in Evansdale, IA for many years. He graduated from East (Waterloo) High School in 1981, where he had overcome his physical limitations and challenges to succeed in swimming, archery, wrestling, and football. He went on to play football for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes.

After football, Scott joined the US Navy. He served aboard the USS Saratoga, CV-60, as a Storekeeper, then cross-rated into aviation, where he launched and landed aircraft, as well as flew in F-14 fighter jets as the RIO. He later served his shore duty at NAS Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Florida. Scott was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1988.

By that time, Scott had renewed his commitment to the Lord, and was a member of New Covenant Ministries in Jacksonville, FL, where he served under Bishop Wiley Tomlinson as an evangelist, and as radio personality "Screamin' Scott" at WNCM, FM
88.1. He was also part of "The Book of Axe," a music and drama evangelism ministry.

In 1993, Scott married Jennifer Petree at Gray Gables Baptist Church in Callahan, FL. Soon thereafter, the couple moved to Clermont, FL to help grow the upstart Clermont Community Church, later named Family Christian Center, under Pastor Rick Van Wagner. While in Clermont, Scott and Jen had two sons, Joseph and Jacob. Scott was also ordained as a pastor. Later, he was trained and developed in the biblical gift of prophecy, leading to his being recognized as, and anointed into, the office of the prophet.

In 2007, God sent Scott back to Jacksonville, FL to launch his own church, Soul Bait Ministries. Since then, Pastor/Prophet Scott has taught, trained, counseled, prayed for, preached to, encouraged, advised, brought healing to, and released the love of God
to thousands of people across the United States and around the world. He has authored
three and a half books, and ministered on tv, radio, and internet channels.

Over the last four years, Scott has faithfully endured and overcome relentless
physical, emotional, and medical situations, more than once near the point of death. On December 30, 2023, the Lord delivered Scott from his sudden battle against cancer, calling him home to his heavenly rest, peace, and perfect health.

Scott was a faithful and loving husband and father, a good son, a loyal friend, a transparent example, a man of Godly character, and a fun-loving, simple preacher who loved people, and loved Jesus with all his heart. He was loved by many, and will be
missed.

Scott is survived by his wife, Jennifer; sons, Joseph and Jacob; mother, Angela Bolton; sister, Susan Kasper; brother, Steven Lathrop and wife, Michele; stepmother, Rebecca Lathrop; mother-in-law, Lynda Petree; brother-in-law, Jonathan Petree and wife, Jessica; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and multiple nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Jerry Lathrop; paternal grandparents, Francis and Virginia Lathrop; and maternal grandparents, Earnest and Irene Brown.
