Stella Marie Gourneau, 92, passed away on January 16, 2022. Born in Belcourt, North Dakota, she was the daughter of Leander and Josephine Gourneau. Stella was a graduate of Nazareth College and received her doctorate in music education from Nova University. She came to Jacksonville to teach after graduating college and became a supervisor in the music department of the Duval County School Board until her retirement. Throughout her life, Stella was passionate in her belief that all children should receive a well-rounded education, the '3Rs' and the arts.

In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Wright, Gladys Biskeborn and Sandra Bass; and her brother, Steven Gourneau. Those left to cherish her memory include her lifelong friend, Sandra Hutchinson; her siblings, Francis (Sarah) Gourneau, Bernice Lyngstad, Joyce Hathman, Lee Gourneau, Cora Hunsley, and Theresa (Steve) Langdeau; and many nieces and nephews.

Donations in her name can be made to the Jacksonville Symphony. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Arlington Park Funeral Home.
