Obituary

Retired Corrections Officer Stephen Louis Stringer passed away from natural causes on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the age of 81.
Officer Stringer was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated from Terry Parker High School in Jacksonville, Florida.  In March 1966, he began his career with the J.S.O. as a Corrections Officer.  He worked in various positions throughout the Jails Division as well as in the P-Farm.  In November 1996, he retired from the J.S.O. after serving more than 30 years with the agency.  Officer Stringer stayed retired to enjoy, golf, cruises and quality time with his family and friends until his passing. He is survived by his stepson (Matthew Lawless) and two grandchildren (Mahana Lawless and Masumi Lawless).  his sister (Marcia Young), his niece Stephanie Crump, and his two nephews Daryl Ranson and Brian Young.  In 2019, Officer Stringer was preceded in death by his wife (Linda) of 33 years of marriage and his sister Linda Cody.  Officer Stringer's remains will be laid to at the Arlington Park Funeral Home and Cemetery (6920 Lone Star Rd) at a date/time to be determined.  The J.S.O. Honor Guard will render honors and Chaplain Clarance Jarrell will be present on the service date.  An updated notification will be disseminated when the service date becomes available.
