Terry Lee Grimes, 68, of Jacksonville, Florida, son of Bruce and Dorothy Grimes was born, August 13, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa passed away January 28, 2017 at the McGraw Center for Caring - Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents Bruce and Dorothy Grimes, a brother Monte Lee Grimes, brother in law Michael Duddy, and two nephews.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Karen Grimes, whom he wed August 12, 1970; two daughters, Kristiana (Jeff) Mitchell and Misty (Kevin) Hasbrouck, both of Jacksonville, Florida. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jonathan Chase Mitchell, Selene Marie Salvatore and Christopher Garrett Salvatore; three sisters Bruceann (Lee) Ferguson, Carol (Scott) Engdahl, Mary Lou (Michael) Duddy, one brother Monte (Paula) Grimes; two sister in laws Barbara (Al) Schlueter and Connie (Gary) Voigt. He also had a total of 14 nieces and nephews.

He served two tours in the Vietnam War from 1967-1969. During service to his country, he served as a paratrooper and pathfinder. He was awarded several Vietnam metals for service of his country. He also was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4351.

After his service in the military, he went on to work in construction for several years, then worked in the truck driving industry for several more years even owning his own semi. He then worked as a city bus driver for JTA for 17 years before retiring in 2007.

He loved the outdoors and spent many occasions riding in the sand dunes, working on cars, riding motorcycles, fishing, camping, cooking out and spending time with family and friends. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment.

The family will receive guests for a Visitation 5 - 7 PM, Monday, February 6, 2017 at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211

A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 10 AM Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in Arlington Park Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Arlington Park Cemetery.
