Obituary of Thad Walker
Thad O. Walker, Jr., 85, entered into rest September 3, 2009. He is remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Thad served in the Marine Corps during WWII and the Korean War and he retired from CSX after more than 40 years of faithful service. He was also an avid collector of antique glass and enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in all of their athletic endeavors.
Survivors include his son, Thad O. Walker III; grandsons, Thad B. Walker and Ethan J. Walker; nieces, Davanna Stewart and Pam Rose Hewlett; nephews, Ronnie Stewart, Jr., Jack Stewart and Alex Saint-Amand; brother, Lindsey R. Walker; sisters, Sue Neil Walker and Betty L. Saint-Amand (Robert) and numerous good friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 in the chapel of Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Rd. A celebration of Thad's life will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 8264 Lone Star Rd, at 2:00p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Following the service Thad will be laid to rest next to his loving wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Snipes Walker, in Arlington Park Cemetery.
