Obituary of Thomas Chester

Thomas Julian Chester, 87, born June 24, 1927 to James David and Mary Elizabeth Dean Chester in Attapulgus, Georgia, passed away February 23, 2015 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a 1945 graduate of Landon High School. He served in the US Army and the Florida National Guard until 1953, and has resided in Arlington since 1955 where he was a building contractor until his retirement. He later served as a volunteer for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Department, and was a long-time lay leader in Arlington United Methodist Church.Thomas was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ruth (Poston). He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Ellen Chester of Cincinnati and James and Connie Chester of Stockbridge, GA, four grandchildren, and two great-grandsons. The Chester family will receive friends from 6-8PM, Friday, February 27, in the chapel of Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road. A memorial service will be held at Arlington United Methodist Church, 1400 University Blvd N, Jacksonville, FL 32211 at 1PM Saturday, February 28.
