Thomas Arthur Grimes, 89, passed away January 19, 2018 after a brief illness.

Born May 14, 1928 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Tom attended Landon High School and graduated in 1947.  He received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 1951.  After graduation, he began working for Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He married Mary Ruth Loftin in Nashville, Tennessee on August 31, 1952.  They resided in Pittsburgh until late 1953, when they moved to Jacksonville, Florida.  Tom worked for Southern Bell as an Electrical Engineer from 1953 to 1987.  Mary passed away in 2005.  Tom continued to live in Jacksonville until 2016, at which time he relocated to Germantown, Tennessee.

Tom enjoyed golfing, watching Vanderbilt sports, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his three children, Thomas L. (Karen) Grimes of Collierville, Tennessee, Jeff R. Grimes of Jacksonville, Florida, Michael T. Grimes (Yuli) of San Jose, California; and eight grandchildren.

Following cremation, a private interment service will take place in the family plot at Arlington Park Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.
