It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tommy Duke Simmons, aged 85, who left this world peacefully on September 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 15, 1938, in Miami, Florida Tom lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to his family.

Tom was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Dorothy, for over 50 years. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with cherished memories and laughter, founded on a love for family and Jesus Christ. Known for his dry humor, Tom had an ability to brighten any room with his quick retorts. Friends and family will remember him for his cleverness and the way he could make those he loved most feel special by his genuine interest in their lives. As a father, Tom was a guiding light to his children, Clair and Emily. He instilled in them the values of hard work, honesty, humor, and a legacy of knowing and loving Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy his children, Clair (Danny) and Emily (Jon); his grandchildren, Emma, Madeline, Duke, and Cohen. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Gladys Simmons.

A short graveside funeral will be held Friday, October 11th, 2024 @9:30 AM at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. A reception to honor Tom's memory will be held following the service at the Cornaire residence.
