Obituary of Trula Bridges

Trula Collis Bridges"Trudy", was born in Little Switzerland, May 10, 1911, passed away January 25, 2009. She is preceded in death by her daughters, Kalisa Kay Queen and Janice Inman; and son, Arnold Kelly. She is survived by her daughter Norma "Debby" Surdi; Nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Agnes Collis, and several nieces and nephews. Trudy graduated from Asheville Teachers College in NC with an English Degree. She taught in Spruce Pines for 4 years. She then became mother to Janice, Debby, and Arnold. During WWII, she was a secretary for the Quartermaster, and was very active in the Baptist church. In the early fifties, she began her lifelong career, her love of cosmetics and fashions, in Jacksonville, FL. She worked at May Cohen and JC Penny's. Trudy worked at many stores in Jacksonville Beach, where she had resided for nearly 50 years. In her cosmetics, Trudy taught a grooming class at one of the beaches high schools. In her early 80's, she retired only to become a gardener. Her yard was a masterpiece of flowers. Trudy raised figs and anything from green beans to cabbage. A memorial service will be held, Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 1:00pm at Kernan Boulevard Baptist Church, 4000 Kernan Boulevard South, Jacksonville, Florida.
