Vance Augustus Goode, Jr., age 84, son of Vance, Sr. and Nona Brewer Goode was born, July 4, 1933 in Jacksonville, Florida passed away October 25, 2017 at the McGraw Center for Caring - Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida.

Mr. Goode served 4 years in the USAF. After discharge, he started his career with the City of Jacksonville Police Department, then going into federal service as a detective at NAS Jax and Chief of Police at NAS Cecil Field. Mr. Goode served as ComNavAirLant in Norfolk, VA as director of security. He retired from NCIS in Washington DC in 1987.

Vance was preceded in death by his son, Russell Goode, parents Vance and Nona Goode, and siblings John Goode and Judy Goode-Wallace.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Shirley Skinner Goode who stood by him for 64 years of marriage. Mr. Goode is also survived by sons, Vance Goode III (wife, Debbie) and Mark Goode (wife, Conny), sister-in-law Gail Goode, grandchildren Vance Goode IV, Jennifer Lang and Paige Goode, and great grandchildren Nathan and Haley Goode and Lily and Charlie Lang.

The family will receive guests for a visitation from 5-7 PM, on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida, 32211.

A Celebration of Life service will take place - Graveside - at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Arlington Park Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211 with Pastor George Spencer officiating.
