VANTA "VON" QUEEN
January 26, 1941 -- April 15, 2023

Vanta "Von" Queen crossed over to heaven to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 15, 2023. Prayers were answered as he went to heaven in his sleep peacefully and with little pain. Von was an amazing Husband to his bride of 42 years, Carol Queen. Their life was full and they enjoyed life together in a beautiful and bountiful marriage. Von was the best brother, and had a very special close friendship with his brother, Dr. Carl Shipley, Sr.Von was a very special friend to everyone he met, not knowing a stranger. He was known as the "Candy Man," always giving everyone and anyone he would meet a peppermint candy. He also loved fishing!!
Von was born in West Virginia, but his adult life was spent in Jacksonville, FL. He retired as a professional cosmetologist, owning several shops. He also owned a sub-contracting building business. The last 20 years of his life, he and his wife Carol dedicated their lives volunteering and offering financial support to the AngelAID Foundation. He loved working and being able to help the sick and dying children. He was preceded in death by his mother Odessa Baker-Maynard and his sister Phyllis.
Von's viewing will be held Thursday, May 4th from 5-7pm at Arlington Park Funeral Home. The graveside service and celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 5th at 9am at Arlington Park Cemetery, with Pastor Brian DiBias of the Shepherd of the Woods Lutheran Church officiating.
