Antiqua born, Missionary Vera McMillon came to the United States at an early age and throughout her years she has left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. She has exemplified a dedicated life of service with an exceptional devotion to God and the concerns of others. The fruit of her labor will be cherished and remembered by all the recipients of her kindness and servitude. She was known for nurturing the sick, and many acts of kindness and support throughout the Kingdom of God. Her helpful hands were extended to countless families throughout various Communities in Volusia County and abroad.
Missionary Vera McMillon, was a great woman of God. She spent most of her adult life in Ministry; giving, sharing and serving God. Whatever her hands found to do for the Lord, she was faithful in doing.
Her character demonstrated a spirit of integrity, honesty, commitment to the things of God, and most importantly, loving God's people. She was self-sacrificing and a woman filled with compassion.
Vera McMillon's life and work were examples of true stewardship and perseverance even during difficult times. She would often initiate building fund programs to improve and beatify church buildings, commenting, "This is God's house, it should not look mashed down while we live in our fine homes".
Vera McMillon lived an upright and Godly lifestyle and was a bold witness in proclaiming the Word of God and His goodness anywhere and at any time. Prayer was her Mantle and the Holy Spirit her guide throughout her journey. She loved singing and would recall songs of Zion and hymns from her childhood. Her favorite song was, "GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS", and she often quoted, "LIFE IS LIKE A MOUNTAIN RAILROAD".
During her lifetime she served under several Pastors and in various Auxiliaries with an approved service of excellence. Her life and ministry service is the heritage she leaves behind for many to emulate. This expression is admirable, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing". I Tim. 4:7

This faithful servant has gone home to be with the Lord. She will be missed but always remembered in our hearts. In her last days she was loved and cherished by her family in Jax,Fl.
Preceded in death by her son, she leaves behind a daughter, son-in-law, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many sons and daughters in the Lord to carry on her legacy.
