Viaita "Nita" Wahlers (Frieze) passed away on Friday morning, March 19, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville FL at the age of 74.
Viaita was born on April 7, 1946 in Mott, ND to John and Magdelena (Basting) Frieze. She attended Mott Lincoln High School in Mott, ND, and grew up on the family farm.
Nita married Vernon Wahlers in 1966. She worked for an automotive fastener company, where she was the first female heat treat furnace operator in the company's history. She lived in Michigan for several years before moving to Florida. Once retired, she would crochet Angel afghans and take them to the hospital for Cancer patients when she would go for her Chemo treatments.
She loved to cook, bake, read, knit/ crochet and watch the wildlife. Most importantly she loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Nita is survived by her husband Vernon of East Tawas, MI; sons, Timothy (Angela) Wahlers of Jacksonville, FL, John Wahlers of East Tawas, MI, and Robert Wahlers of Jacksonville, FL;  daughter, Jolene (Kirk) Bullock of Fleming Island, FL; grandchildren, Kelcie Shandy, Cole Wahlers, Amanda and Mackenzie Bullock; great granddaughter, Brynlee Fleming; brothers, Joe (Darlene) Frieze of Bismarck, ND and Henry Frieze of Jamestown, ND; sisters, Katherine (Norman) Hornberger of Park River, ND and Lucille (Stan) Rice of Minot, ND; sister-in-law, Arylce Frieze of Mott, ND; Roberta Frieze of Bismarck, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Eva, Alice Jung, Ann Ehli, Margaret Emter, and Pauline; and her brothers, Leo and John Frieze.
