Obituary

Virginia Rosado Grafals, 108, was born the oldest of 8 children in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico on September 17, 1917. She lived there until she moved to New York with her husband and three children. Several decades later she returned to Puerto Rico until 2017 when hurricane María prompted her and her daughter to move to Jacksonville, Florida. She longed to move back to her beloved island but is now in an even better paradise home.

In life, Virginia stood out as a stylish, attractive, generous, resilient woman who loved her family. Some of her hobbies included playing the lottery, casino slot machines and Bingo. She also loved animals, especially dogs. She was an excellent cook, singlehandedly making complex Puerto Rican dishes without the aid of electric kitchen appliances. She loved watching people enjoy good food. Shortly before passing a group of 8 family members shared a delicious Latin meal in love and harmony just steps away from her place of repose. Until the end, Virginia maintained a sharp mind and an amazing memory.

She passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home in Jacksonville, Florida on June 28, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, all 7 siblings, her husband Antonio Rosado, her daughter Myrna Díaz, her son Tony Rosado, and her great-granddaughter Raechel. She is survived by her daughter Saida Rosado, 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
