Obituary of Vivian Brooks

Vivian W. Brooks, 74, passed away August 18, 2009. Born December 8, 1934, to Archie and Myrtle Merritt, she graduated from Webster High School in 1953. Shortly after, she moved to Jacksonville, where she met and married Aulton Brooks in 1954. In 1982 she retired from JEA, where she had worked 20 years. She then worked for Chic-Fil-A for about 20 years. Vivian was a long-time member at First Baptist Church, but most recently attended Arlington Baptist Church. She loved and served the Lord and adored her family. She enjoyed traveling and meeting people, and was generous with her time, money and possessions. Besides her husband, she is survived by her sons Gary (Mary), Ron and Tim; her grandchildren Daniel, Eric and Mary Katherine, all of Jacksonville; one brother, Bruce (Betty) Merritt, of Linden; one sister, Barbara Fort, of Wildwood; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, at Arlington Baptist Church, with Rev. Fred Norman officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Park Cemetery.
