Obituary of Wanda Martin
Mrs. Wanda Julia Martin was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, March 26, 2015 at 7PM. She was born June 10, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to Marjan and Mary Kozlowski. Although the illness of dementia lasted over nine years, she kept us laughing and full of surprises with her witty phrases and gestures. Her smiles, hugs and kisses melted out hearts and her affection will be missed by many relatives and friends. She was a loving Mother that was the glue holding her family together, making sure that family kept in touch. Wanda's cooking and baking skills satisfied the pallets of many, many family and friends over the years. She was an accomplished seamstress and stressed neatness and traditional Polish values. Her charisma with young children was incredible. She loved with Christian love and received it graciously. Wanda was the Principle of the Religious Education For Children at St. John Baptist de la Salle Parish in Granada Hills, CA for 10 years, was Past President of Queens and Kings of Christ The King, Jacksonville, FL and President of Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary, K-Cees also in Jacksonville, FL. Also, she was a faithful member of the Holy Rosary Breakfast Club for 14 years. In addition, Wanda worked for Olive View Medical Center in Sylmar, CA for over 30 years and could type over 100 words per minute at a medical transcriptionist. Her love for her grand daughter prompted a move from Granada Hills, CA to Jacksonville, FL. She leaves her husband, Alfred J. Martin, Jr.; two sons, Steven Anthony Wojdat and Philip Stanley Wojdat; daughter-in-law, Sophia Wojdat; grand daughter, Wendy Wojdat; and many nieces and nephews. A Rosary Vigil will be held 6PM, Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in the Chapel of the funeral home with Msgr. Mortimer Danaher as Celebrant. The family will receive friends for a Visitation Gathering from 7PM to 8PM immediately following the Rosary. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10 AM, Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Christ The King Catholic Church, 742 Arlington Expressway, Jacksonville, FL with Father James Boddie officiating. A Graveside Blessing will begin 12:30 PM, Friday, April 3, 2015 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL. Msgr Mortimer Danaher will preside.
