Obituary of Ward Byrd

Ward Byrd Sr., 92, passed away on June 06, 2008. He is remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and caring friend to all who knew him. He was born on January 1, 1916 in Bristole, Georgia to the late Walter and Pink Byrd. Ward is preceded in death by his first wife Eunice Eva Byrd and second wife Dorothy Ryals; along with his two brothers Ira Byrd, Alvin Byrd and his two sisters Ella Copps and Ann Ryals. He is survived by his son Ward Byrd Jr.; three daughters Shirley Falis, Betty Henderson and Kathy Cook; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great -grandchild. Ward was a proud United States Navy Veteran, who served during World War II. His true passion was being a Boy Scout leader. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 from 6-8:00p.m. in the chapel of Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, for a visitation and a funeral service at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 7665 Ft. Caroline Road, at 11:00 a.m. June 11, 2008. Interment will follow after in Arlington Park Cemetery.
