Obituary of Wayne Entsminger

Wayne Donald Entsminger, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away in the early morning hours of June 27, 2015, at the McGraw Center for Caring in Jacksonville, Florida.Wayne was born in Powersville, Missouri to Carl and Vennia Entsminger.

Eventually, Wayne's family moved to Iowa. He graduated from high school in Maquoketa, Iowa, where he met the love of his life, the former Anna Lou Newsom. A year after graduation, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he served as an instructor for the repair and maintenance of jet engines. During this time, he married his high school sweetheart. Following four years in the Air Force, Wayne and Anna Lou moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he worked for International Harvester.

They moved to Jacksonville, Florida after five years in Chicago, where he worked for 28 years as an insurance salesman for Prudential Insurance Company until his retirement in 1988. After Wayne's retirement, he enjoyed playing golf, camping, cruises, attending NASCAR races, and watching his favorite sport teamsthe Florida Gators and the Chicago Cubs. Wayne also valued his Christian faith and was a dedicated church member, fulfilling various leadership and volunteer roles including the Men's Service Club, teaching Sunday School, and singing in the choir.

Wayne was predeceased by his mother, father, two brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anna Lou, and his two sons, Steve Entsminger (June) and Stan Entsminger (Rita), along with three grandchildren: Ashley Hamilton (Billy), Scott Entsminger (Luize), and Ariana Wallizada. He is also survived by his brother, Max (Doretta) and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Arlington United Methodist Church, 1400 University Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32211, with a reception to follow in Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Wayne's life with a charitable donation to the Memorial Fund at his church, Arlington United Methodist.
