IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wertie
Raines
May 5, 1928 – March 24, 2020
Wertie Parks Raines was born in St. Charles, Virginia to Lee and Lily Parks. She married Mack Jones and moved to Jacksonville, Florida and became a school teacher retiring from Arlington Elementary after more than 30 years of teaching. She had 2 children with Mack. Her son Larry and daughter Teresa. She bought her dream house on Pottsburg Creek and spent many nights watching the sunset over her dock with her loving husband, Carl. Both of them usually sipping on an old fashioned. She traveled the world taking trips to England, Australia, Scotland, Ireland, Israel, the Bahamas and many other interesting places. She loved to cook. I miss her salmon croquettes and to this day, my favorite cake is the applesauce cake she made. She loved to square dance with Carl. Both of them dancing the night away. Honestly, I think she loved the outfits they wore. She had a good fashion sense, was always stylish and dressed for the occasion.
Her son, Larry, had 2 sons, Don and Larry Jr.
Her daughter, Teresa, also had 2 sons, Brian and Jeff.
Many summers were spent swimming in the pool, shrimping and fishing from the dock, playing football or hide and seek in the backyard, or cooking out. She was a Grandmother now.
Wertie had a great life with lots of Love.
Wertie is survived by her husband, Carl Raines; her daughter, Teresa Harriott; her grandchildren, Brian Spangler and wife Becky, Don Jones and wife Julia, Jeff Spangler and wife Darcy, Larry Jones and wife Christy; her great-grandchildren Steven, Elke, Meghan, Corbett, Arianna and Chase.
We Love You and Miss You!
