Obituary of Wesley Wiggins
Obituary for Wesley W. Wiggins.
We celebrate the life of Lt. Col. Wesley W. Wiggins, loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born in Memphis Tennessee on November 10, 1927. Prior to joining the Air Force, he served in the Tennessee Air National Guard. From there he enlisted in the Air Force, obtained the highest enlisted rank of Staff Sergeant and then was awarded a direct commission as 2nd Lieutenant. Over the course of his military career he served as Personnel Officer, Adjutant, Communication Officer and Communication-Electronic Officer until he retired as Lieutenant Colonel. After retiring, he became a professor, teaching courses at Jones College and then went on to teach math at Kirby Smith Junior High School where he was a favorite among the students. Many times over the years after he retired a second time, his former students would take time out to let him know how much they appreciated him. Wesley's faith was strong with the support of his loving wife Helen Wiggins who preceded him in 2008. Lt. Col. Wiggins died after a long battle of cancer which he had won, only to succumb to the side effects of the treatments that helped him fight that battle. He died in his sleep on November 17, 2015. Wesley is survived by his children, Pat Parker and Janet Looby; and grandchildren, Heather Moulder (Ron), Christopher Looby and Sarah Looby. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
