Obituary of William Cook

William F. Cook

November 9, 1923 - December 31, 2015

William (Bill) Cook passed away on December 31, 2015. Mr. Cook retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant Major after 26 years. He served his country in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He moved to Jacksonville in 1969 where he later retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Shirleen Cook. He is survived by daughters Mary Alice (Donald) Noel, and Anita (Chris) Carter; sons Garry, Mark (Pam) and Dean (Terrie). Mr. Cook had 10 Grandchildren: Daniel (Tina) Noel, Amy Cook (deceased), Maggie (Robbie) Harris, Robert (Caitlin) Carter, Abby Cook, William Cook, Brandon Cook, Steven Cook, Will Cook, and Kylee Cook; and 3 great-grandchildren: Katie Noel, Rachel Noel, and Ryan Noel. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 5th at 10am, at Chapel Hills cemetery on St. Johns Bluff Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mr. Cook's honor to Arlington United Methodist Church or a charity of choice.
