William T. DeMeritt died peacefully on September 17, 2018 in Orlando, Florida; he was 98 years old.
Bill was born to
William Henry Thurlow and Florence Newell DeMeritt
in Boston, Massachusetts on
February 15, 1920. During WWII, he served as a lieutenant in the Coast Guard, and after his service he made a career of selling insurance. Bill was a lifelong fan of sports--he fenced, played ball and dearly loved the Boston Red Sox. He was a voracious reader with an agile mind who could be counted on for his good-humored smile, easy laugh, unending quips and timeless storytelling.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Helen DeMeritt, his brother, Russell DeMeritt, and his parents.
A beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather,

e is survived and his memory cherished by his children,
Carole
and Billy, his grandchildren--Tommy, Billy (Wurzbach), Christy, Billy (DeMeritt) and Kimberly--and his five great grandchildren.
