Obituary of William Fennell

William "Bill" Franklin Fennell went to be with the Lord Monday morning, August 10, 2015. Born in Wilmington, NC on November 24, 1930, Bill was predeceased by his parents, Fitzhugh Jake Fennell, Sr. and Pauline Hall Fennell, his brother, Fitzhugh "Toddy" Fennell and his loving wife of 61 years, Faye King Fennell. He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Hendrix and his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Susan Fennell, granddaughter Sybil Collier and her husband, Mike and their three sons, Zach, Jacob and Luke, grandson Austin Fennell and his wife, Stacey, and granddaughter Lauren Gonzalez and her husband, Chris; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, and a host of friends. Bill graduated from New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC after which he served his country proudly in the Army for two years before returning to Wilmington to marry and begin

raising his family as an employee of The Atlantic Coastline Railroad (CSX today). Bill and Faye moved to Jacksonville in June of 1960 and quickly became very involved in the

ministries at Terry Parker Baptist Church. Bill served as a leader and deacon for many years at Terry Parker, Central and First Baptist Church. During the 1960's, Bill put his heart and soul into community children serving as a leader in the Justina Road Elementary Dad's Club and as a baseball coach for the Justina Road Little League. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2015, to celebrate Bill's life at his daughter's house, 559 13th Avenue South, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. The family gratefully requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Christian Family

Chapel Missionary Fund directly or via care of the family.
