William (Bill) R. Wedenfeller, age 86, of Bryceville, Fl. passed away on May 13,2016.
He was born on September 5,1929 in Charlotte, N.C. and was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.
He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years in Jacksonville where he formed the first Lutheran softball team. After retiring from the Post Office, he moved to St. Augustine, where he resided for the next 25 years. During this time he worked as a volunteer at St. Francis House, as the first volunteer coordinator. From 1997 until 2011 he worked as a volunteer for the St. Augustine Sheriff 's department. His wife Jeanette preceeded him in death in 2012. He relocated to Bryceville, Fl to remarry in November 2013, where he became an active part of the community
He was pre-deceased by his son Billy Joe Wedenfeller and daughter-in-law Marlene Wedenfeller and son-in law Claude Whittle
He is survived by his wife, Betty Phillmon Wedenfeller, his daughters Nancy Whittle of Atlanta, Patty(Mark) Peterson of Jacksonville, Charlene Phillmon of Bryceville, Sons Ken(Pam) Wedenfeller and Eddie(Barbara) Phillmon both of Jacksonville, 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 12200 McCormick Rd., Jacksonville, Fl 32225. Viewing will be at 10:00 and service will be at 11:00 on Friday, May 20, 2016.
