Obituary of William Sexton

William C. Sexton 84, passed away peacefully at his home from cardiac disease secondary to renal failure on December 5, 2013.

Known by his friends and family as Bill, he was born to Edward and Mabel Sexton in Nashville, TN on 3/26/29. Bill graduated from UT with a degree in Engineering. He began his career at L&N Railroad in Nashville, TN, was transferred to Louisville, KY, where he spent the majority of his career, and later was transferred to Jacksonville, FL, retiring from CSX. Bill had a great sense of humor and a warm, giving heart. As a way to give back to the community he did volunteer work: TPC (18 yrs), Meals on Wheels, Jazz Festival and served on several boards. He was married to LaVerne Lynn Tyson on November 17, 2001. He is survived by his wife LaVerne, his sons Warren (Donna), Jimmy, Allen and Wayne (Terri) Sexton, stepchildren Linda (Craig) Rhoades, Ellen (Bob) Kleinhans, Carol (John) Call, Jim Tyson and Amy (Chris) Surber, 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm on December 10, 2013, at Arlington Park Funeral Home with internment to follow. Dr. Vincent Kolb of South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church along with Reverend Bruce Galloway will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on December 9th at the same location. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Building Fund for South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church or any charity of your choice. The family of Bill Sexton wishes to thank VITAS Innovative Hospice Care.
