Willie J. Powell Jr, 93 of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Friday, September 6, 2019. He was born on November 8, 1925 in Excel, Alabama and was the son of Willie and Lilly (Manning) Powell.

Willie was a Naval Seabee during WWII and later retired from St Regis Paper Mill, but remained quite active for many years. He was
a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and took special interest in his church. He was an avid gardner with a green thumb that could grow just about anything and enjoyed piecing together many jigsaw puzzles. Willie also had a keen way of building model ships and he will be
greatly missed.

Willie is survived by his three children; Rosanne Powell, Kim (Bill) Gairns, Kenneth (Rodolfo) Powell, his daughter-in-law Wanda, seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Willie was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette and son Jeffrey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary donations be made to Grace Lutheran Church for disaster relief from Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00pm Saturday, September 14th at Grace Lutheran Church, 12200 McCormick Rd, Jacksonville, Florida.  The family will be greeting guests from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service. Burial will take place at 1:00 pm Monday, September 16th at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4803 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
