In Loving Memory of Willie Allen Stanford

October 14, 1943 - March 29, 2023

Willie Allen Stanford, a beloved member of his community, passed away on March 29, 2023, at the age of 79.

Willie was born on October 14, 1943, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Jessie Mae Stanford at Hillman Hospital. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. He was a man of few words, but his love for his family spoke volumes.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy D. Stanford, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage. They were inseparable and shared a love that was truly special. So special that they did not find it robbery to jointly celebrate their birthdays, which occurred 5 days apart, usually cruising the Caribbean.

Willie was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He is also survived by his four children, Ronda "Yvette" Hammonds, Edward Davis, Willie Stanford Jr., and Keisha Stanford; seven grandchildren, Quashan Stanford, Nikkia Coleman, Lashonda Devonish, Jasmine Devonish, Asia Stanford, Lorenzo Stanford, and Josiah Lovell; and 13 great grandchildren, Quashan Jr., Chardonae, Nasir, Kenya, Harlem, Kash'mere, Londyn, Ethan, Aden, Carl, Serenity, Dasean, and Nakylah, who he loved unconditionally.

Willie dedicated 30 years to the US Postal Service in New York City.  Upon his retirement from the Postal Service, he relocated to Jacksonville, FL with his wife. During his retirement he picked up some part-time jobs to keep himself busy, which included a gas station gig that lasted one shift! He wasn't fond of heights and they asked him to climb a ladder on day one to change the flip price sign, so that was over as fast as it started.  One job he did love and cherish was serving as a bus driver for the Duval County School System.  Willie loved the children on his route and they loved Mr. Willie back!

Willie will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his warm heart, and his unwavering love for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He found joy in the simple things in life and loved barbecuing, maintaining his lawn, and watching court tv. He will be deeply missed, but his love and memory will live on through his family and all who knew him.
