Obituary of Winnie Praxedes
Winnie de Jesus-Praxedes, age 57, passed away peacefully at 2:12am October 13, 2015 at Baptist Medical Center in Downtown Jacksonville, FL. She was born to Rolando de Jesus and Elena Salvador in Manila, Philippines on July 16, 1958.
Winnie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was very shy and quiet, but very friendly and thoughtful when you get to know her. She loved to watch Pinoy soap operas and caring for animals, especially her two cats Robin and Fabian. Winnie was a foodie, and loved to eat, cook, and bake with her daughter. She loved to read, laugh, and tell stories with family and friends as well as talk over the phone with her siblings living in the Philippines. She was also a devout Catholic, enjoyed attending Mass and prayed Psalm 20 every day.
Winnie was preceded in death by her husband Rene, mother-in-law Isabel Reyes Praxedes-Caloza, father Rolando de Jesus, mother Elena Hussey (nee Salvador de Jesus), and aunt Josie de Berry.
She is survived by her only daughter, Nikki Praxedes; sister Maria Corazon dela Torre and brother Reynaldo a.k.a. "Boyet" de Jesus; brother-in-law Jose (Gene) Praxedes, sisters-in-law Marissa (Cesar) Garcia and Stella (Bebot) Villamor; nephews Michael, Ronald, Ryan, Cesar, Chris, Omar, and Julius; nieces Riana, Reina, and Bianca; along with other beloved cousins, relatives, and friends from all over the world.
A celebration of her life will be held at Resurrection Catholic Church, 3383 University Blvd N, Jacksonville, FL 32277 on October 23, 2015 at 5:00pm, followed by a Rosary and small reception. Father Steven Zehler will be officiating.
