Obituary

Buford Wray Bonner of Jacksonville peacefully passed away at the family's home on September 13, 2023. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on August 18, 1932 to Buford and Nan Aileen Bonner.

He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara W. McDonald in 1952. He also entered the US Army in 1952 and joined the 82nd Airborne, where he proudly served his country.  He made a career in iron and steel construction.  He helped construct many, many buildings and bridges in Jacksonville, several southeastern states and also in Cuba. He was very proud of his last job in which he was the supervisor of the Dames Point Bridge.

Wray is predeceased by his wife Barbara and his only son, Andy Bonner. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Darlene Fletcher of Interlachen and Kathy Sheets of Jacksonville. He also leaves behind his daughter in law Cyndee and his only grandson James, both of Jacksonville, and brother in law Wayne McDonald of Interlachen. As well as, Tina Harper, a special family friend. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.

A graveside service for Wray will be held on Thursday, September, 21st at Arlington Park Cemetery at 11:00am. Military honors will be performed and services will be officiated by Pastor Carmen Johns of Christ United Methodist Church. 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211. (904)724-6384
