Obituary of Yvonne Poggie
Yvonne Blackwell Poggie, 73, was born July 19, 1936 and passed away peacefully in her home on April 7, 2010. She was a long time resident of Jacksonville, Florida and the daughter of the late Leroy Blackwell Jr. and Lucie du Bois. She grew up in Baltimore, MD with her 3 sisters Gay Lally, Ann Mc Neil, and Keith Killian. Mrs. Poggie graduated from St. Mary's Seminary College & Union Memorial School of Nursing. She was married for 46 years to Victor Poggie Jr.; she worked at Beaches Hospital and Florida Dept. of Health before retiring in 2002 after touching many lives. Mrs. Poggie was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a devoted member of the Women of the Moose - Chapter 305, where she was actively involved for many years. Mrs. Poggie's true passion was her family; she cherished the role of being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Victor E. Poggie Jr.; daughters Yvonne Marie Poggie, Caroline Poggie Keeney & son-in-law Jay Keeney; sisters Gay Lally, Ann Mc Neil, Keith Killian; grandchildren Hayden Keeney and Ava Keeney. A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 2 at 2pm. at the Moose Lodge 455 on Southside Blvd. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to the Moose Lodge 455- WOTM Chapter 305 c/o Yvonne B.
