Our loving Yvonne V. Torrington was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world into God's hands on February 2, 2022, at age 85.
She was born to Nora and Harold Canterbury on December 17, 1936, in Guyana. From Yvonne's first marriage in Guyana, she leaves behind two daughters, Audrey C. Grouse, and June V. Grouse. She married her second husband, George A. Torrington in America, and together they leave behind two sons, Ian V. Torrington, and Terence D. Torrington.

Yvonne began her career in Healthcare and Service at Wandsworth Local Authority, London, England as a counselor for female teenagers. Once she came to America, Yvonne continued her education and career at Christ the King Daycare, Jacksonville, Florida as a daycare teacher. Yvonne furthered her career at Merrill Road Daycare, Jacksonville, Florida as a Kindergarten teacher. Prior to her retirement in 2004, Yvonne obtained: Associates of Arts, and Certified Nursing Assistant at Florida community College of Jacksonville, Florida. She also obtained dozens of certificates including her Applied Behavior Analysis certificate from Northeast Florida State Hospital, Macclenny, Florida. Her commitment to serving individuals with disabilities earned her the Governor's Award (Jeb Bush) of Florida for ten years of service.
Yvonne was a devout Christian and was a member of the Saint Paul United Methodist Church near her home in Jacksonville, Florida. Yvonne provided decades of love, care, and support for those in need within her community. Yvonne will be missed by so many.
